How to Install TWRP on Redmi Note 7 Pro?

Installing TWRP on the phone requires an unlock bootloader. So, I have divided this whole guide into two parts as below:

1. Bootloader Unlock
2. Flashing the TWRP

Unlocking the Bootloader

The phone must have an unlocked bootloader in the first place to be able to install or replace the stock recovery with TWRP recovery on Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Follow the below instructions to unlock the bootloader.

• Enable developer options
• Enable OEM unlock and USB debugging inside Developer Options
• Then go to Mi Unlock Status (under Developer Options) and click on the Add account and device.

Flashing or Booting the TWRP

1. Download the TWRP recovery for Redmi Note 7 Pro.
2. Download and Install the ADB and Fastboot utilities.
3. Then connect the phone to the PC using a USB cable.

4. On the computer, open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and execute the below command to restart your phone into fastboot mode or bootloader mode:
   adb reboot bootloader[su_note note_color=”#D7E3F4″ text_color=”#728095″ radius=”3″ class=”” id=””]- You can also enter into fastboot or bootloader mode by turning off the phone and then pressing the Power button + Volume Down button.[/su_note]
5. As this is an A-only device, the TWRP needs to be flashed on the recovery partition. So, execute one of the following command as per the requirement:

   fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.4.x-xx.img

6. Wait for the fastboot command to finish installing the TWRP on Redmi Note 7 Pro.

STEP by STEP TWRP flashing guide for Google Nexus 4:

The complete process will be split into three things as following:
– Unlocking the Bootloader
– Installing a custom recovery

Unlocking the Bootloader:

• Turn the phone off.
• Then boot it into the bootloader/fastboot mode by holding volume up + volume down + power.
• Open a command console and go to the directory where you have extracted adb and fastboot
  Type the following command in the console:

      $ fastboot devices

NOTE:
This command will list the connected devices.
If your phones serial number shows up you are good to go and may continue.
If the phone is NOT listed this indicates that your drivers are not installed correctly.
In order for you to continue you must configure your drivers properly so that your phone is listed under fastboot devices.

• If the phone has been recognized by the command above, proceed to unlocking the bootloader with the following command::

      $ fastboot oem unlock

NOTE:
Remember that this step will wipe EVERYTHING off the phone.

Flashing a Custom Recovery:

• Find out the appropriate custom recovery for your device.

The bootloader on the Zenfone Max M2 and mostly on other Android phones are locked due to security reason. Locking the bootloader means the factory firmware provided by ASUS is intact on your phone. Unlocking the bootloader on Zenfone Max M2 will allow the software, to be modified and could make it vulnerable to attack but will open up a whole new space of rooting, custom ROM, customization etc.

So there’s risk, but unlocking your bootloader can open up a whole new world of Android customization. If that’s worth the risk to you, read on for instructions on how to unlock the bootloader on your Zenfone Max M2.
