How to enable Astro Photography mode on Poco M3 Google Camera?
By default the astrophotography mode is not enabled on this GCam. In case you want to change the setting, follow the below instructions to enable or disable the astrophotography mode.
- Go to GCam Settings
- Scroll down and go to Advanced settings
- Then scroll down almost to the end and enable Astrophotography Mode under Astrophotography settings.
Below are the screenshots that show how to enable the astrophotography mode.
How to shoot in astrophotography mode?
Google Camera version 7.0 and up comes with Astrophotography mode by default, but there are conditions that must be met to enable astrophotography mode. Usually, the following conditions must be met to capture in Astrophotography mode if manually not force enabled:
- It can be enabled on Night Sight mode (only)
- The phone must be kept static (use a tripod or keep the phone somewhere to keep it static)
- There must be low light condition
- It may take few seconds for this mode to come up when the above conditions are met
– If the GCam takes a lot of time usually more than 30 seconds then it is capturing in Astro mode.
– When I kept the phone static in front of a good light source, the Astrophotography mode did not turn on.
So, make sure it is a low light environment.
New features keep on coming on the Google Camera app and hence there could be many versions of these ported apps for Poco M3. This page will always have all available working Google Camera for Poco M3.
I INSTALLED GCAM PARROT AT ON FIRE BUT THEY BOTH AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED WHENEVER I OPEN THEM. SOMETIMES I TOOK SELFIES BUT THE COLOUR OF MY PHOTOS WERE GREEN. I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S THE PROBLEM
The latest 7.x.x version makes the poco m3 bricked after installing gcam and restart coz the cam wont start normally and restarting a device might fix the cam
But here’s now, my poco m3 wont open at all after I restart and bricked in unexpected.
Well, let me explain what is a brick, first!
When your does not power up at all even after having a fully charged battery and no physical damage as such.
An how does this happen? Be altering the system software from where it boots.
For that you need to have an unlocked bootloader, at least or you should have flashed something from the EDL mode on your Poco M3.
So you are accusing of after installing this GCam mod on your phone it is bricked.
If you have read the article even for once, I have nowhere mentioned unlocking the bootloader neither flashing something through EDL mode.
Ideally, a simple software can cause a bootloop which means to put the Android OS in some state after which it will not boot fully.
In this stage at least you should be able to use the Fastboot mode and the Recovery mode.
If this is the case, you can just go to the recovery mode and try to clear the cache partition.
If this does not help then try to boot your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode, the phone will boot bypassing any user installed apps.
I hope this helps!
In gcam 8.1 of poco m3, the problems I have noticed are:
*we can’t preview the photo taken by clicking on it.
*In video mode slow motion always crashes the gcam.
*The selfie video taken by gcam is always stuttering.
*At sometimes when we open gcam it shows a black colour.
*There is an option for 4K video recording in gcam but if we try to record a 4K video it crashes always.
*Astrophotography mode takes about maximum 3 minutes 30 seconds to capture a photo in very low light condition. But if we kept the phone static for that duration, there is no doubt we will get a very very good amazing photo.
Slow Mo isnt working
The 8.1 version is having an issue. When you open the app and the data connection is on, the camera screen is black out.
Gcam 8.1is working and with clarity superior to a standard POCO m3 camera.
The only bug I found was that it is not possible to access the gallery through the Gcam application.
gcam 8.1 photos colour not good. for poco m3
@Steve and @ibbi haq
I have just added a GCam 7.4 build for the phone. Can you please install and verify this build?
When I try to came picture or make video it’s crashes and when I go to portrait it takes the picture but it’s all green
For this package, after installing it. Turn off your motion in the settings for poco m3. It will crash the app if u leave it on. By default is auto. There will be slight delay from the moment u take photo and image show up on your inventory. So be a bit patient.
And somehow the video mode aren’t working at all. it said “couldn’t record video. leave video mode, then try again” when i leave the video mode and return to it. the apps force closed it self. and also time lapse ang slow motion also aren’t working. it’s seem there a bug on recording video.
Thank you Steve for this very helpful information.
I really appreciate this.
