HOW TO INSTALL/DOWNLOAD/FLASH/UPDATE THE LG K8 TO THE LINEAGE OS 15 BASED ANDROID OREO ROM:

1. Follow this if you are flashing LineageOS 15 on the LG K8 for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

   Points to NOTE:
   – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
   – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
   – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

   • Download and Copy the GApps and the LineageOS 15 for LG K8 Oreo ROM ZIP to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery.
     Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery. If not then download the recovery for LG K8 from above link and follow the Custom Recovery Installation Guide (it’s a generic guide which will work for TWRP as well as CWM recovery or any other recovery)
   • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.

     This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM

HOW TO INSTALL/DOWNLOAD/FLASH/UPDATE THE Huawei Nova TO THE LineageOS 14.1 BASED ANDROID NOUGAT ROM:

1. Follow this if you are flashing LineageOS 14.1 on the Huawei Nova (hwcan) for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

   Points to NOTE:
   – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
   – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
   – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

   • Download and Copy the GApps and the LineageOS 14.1 for Huawei Nova Nougat ROM ZIP to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery.
     Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery. If not then download the recovery for Huawei Nova from above link and follow the Mediatek TWRP recovery installation Guide (it’s a generic guide which will work for TWRP as well as CWM recovery or any other recovery)
   • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.
     – Here is a guide explaining how to wipe data using TWRP recovery.

     This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM

   • First flash the LineageOS 14.1 for Huawei Nova Nougat ROM ZIP from device. Then flash the GApps zip from your device memory.

2. Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS 14.1 for Huawei Nova:

   • Copy the latest Huawei Nova Lineage 14.1 ROM ZIP file to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery.
   • Flash the LineageOS ROM ZIP from your phone.

This guide need the Droid MTK Tool. With the help of Droid MTK Tool we will create the scatter file for Chuwi Hi9 Pro.

1. Download the Droid MTK Tool from the above Downloads section.
2. It’s in a zip file, so extract that file or open using WinRar or some application and then open the MTKDroidTools.exe file.

   

3. Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options on the Chuwi Hi9 Pro, to make the device accessible via ADB.

1. Open the SP Flash tool zip file and then open the flash_tool.exe file.

5. After clicking on the download button you will see a red bar on the bottom followed by a yellow bar.
   When the TWRP is downloaded to Chuwi Hi9 Pro, the SP Flash tool will alert you saying Download is done.

Why to Unlock Bootloader on the Mediatek Device

Most of the Android phone manufacturers now a days lock the bootloader, so as to prevent modification of the stock firmware or software that is installed on the Android phone regardless of Mediatek chipset based or other.

A bootloader is a software code that runs when an Android phone is powered up, whose job is to load the boot image then rest of the software will be loaded by the boot image.

So, when you are powering up the phone or entering into recovery mode, there is a boot kernel that is loaded by the bootloader to memory to execute. The bootloader is locked to make sure the bootable image always remains the same and cannot be altered.

To be able to alter or modify the bootable image to be loaded by the bootloader, you need to unlock the bootloader.

What you can do after Unlocking Bootloader on Mediatek phone

Well, after unlocking the bootloader, you are free to flash or install any bootable image you want to.
But still it is not easy. You cannot just install anything into it.

Every Android phone has a recovery mode which is usually used to recover the Android phone if the phone software has gone bad or to reset phone to factory mode etc.
To be able to alter the stock Android software or to install any other Android Custom ROM to your Mediatek phone you need to first install a custom recovery image.

TWRP is a popular custom recovery available for many or almost all Android phones out there.

How to check if bootloader is unlocked or not

If you see your device’s bootloader is locked then you can follow the below steps to unlock the bootloader on any Mediatek Phone:
Make sure you have already installed ADB and fastboot utilities on your PC.
You have installed USB drivers for your Mediatek phone.

1. Download and install the ADB and Fastboot binaries using the above installer download link for Windows or Linux or MAC.
2. Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options, to make the device accessible via ADB.

   – If you don’t know how to do this then here is How to Enable Developer Options and How to Enable USB Debugging and OEM unlock.

3. Open the command console on your PC. To open a command window in the current directory in Windows, press shift + Right Click anywhere on Windows explorer, or some folder.

   – Then on the menu opened, just press the “w” key on the keyboard or select “Open command window here” to open a command window.

4. Now connect your Android to the PC using a USB cable.
5. Enter the following command on the command window: adb reboot bootloader to put your Android into bootloader mode where you can unlock the bootloader

   – If your Android device asks permission such as “Allow USB debugging” then just tap on OK to proceed.

6. Execute the following fastboot command from the bootloader mode to know the bootloader unlock status:
   fastboot devices

   – If you see a device Id in the output then your phone is accessible via fastboot.
   – If not check if you have proper drivers installed or not.
   – you may uninstall and re-install the USB drivers for your device and try again.

7. Then execute the following fastboot command to unlock the bootloader:
   fastboot oem unlock

Sometimes, you cannot unlock bootloader on Mediatek device by following this guide, if the OEM has some other way to unlock bootloader. Such as a Motorola device. To unlock a Motorola phone’s bootloader you need an unlock code which needs to be given to the fastboot oem unlock command.

To unlock a Mediatek based Motorola device’s bootloader you need to follow how to unlock bootloader on Motorola phone.

How to check if Bootloader is unlocked on your Mediatek device or not

Check bootloader unlock status using dialer app method:

1. Open the dialer app and enter the following code: *#*#7378423#*#*
   this will open a window.
   If there is no window opened then you need to check the bootloader status by executing fastboot command on a PC which is in the next method.
2. Once the window opens, go to Service Info > Configuration
   On the next window you will see one of the following info:

   Bootloader unlock allowed - Yes
   – This means that the Bootloader is Locked

   Bootloader Unlocked - Yes
   – This means that the Bootloader is already unlocked

 

Check bootloader unlock status using fastboot method:

1. Restart your Mediatek Phone into bootloader mode.

   – Power off the phone
   – Press appropriate key combination for your phone while pressing the power button

   – If you don’t know key combination for bootloader mode on your phone then just connect your phone to your PC (while the phone is in power on state) and execute the following ABD command:
   adb reboot bootloader

2. Open a command prompt or a terminal and execute the following fastboot command from the bootloader mode to know the bootloader unlock status:
   fastboot oem device-info

– Among other info you will see the following:
Device unlocked: true if the bootloader is unlocked or false if the bootloader is locked

2. Download the SP Flash Tool, MT6795 Scatter File, TWRP Recovery and Userdata Image from the above links given.
3. Extract the SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1532.zip after downloading.
4. Now enter into the directory SP-Flash-Tool-v5.1532.00 and open the file named: flash_tool.exe.
5. On the SP Flash Tool Screen click on the Download Agent on the right side and select the DA_PL.bin file from the opened file browser window.

6. Now click the Scatter-loading on the right side and Select the MT6795_Android_scatter_x3_factory.txt file from the downloaded location.

7. After selecting the Scatter loading file you will get different partition informations populated by SP Flash Tool itself.

8. Now tick only the recovery and then click on Location box in the recovery row and Select the le-1s-mt6795-recovery.img TWRP recovery image from the downloaded location.

9. Click on the download button to download the TWRP recovery.
   

 

10. Now disconnect the phone from the PC if you have connected, then Press and hold the Volume Down button and re-connect your phone to the PC via USB. Leave the Volume Down button when the SP Flash Tool recognizes your phone.
11. Wait till SP Flash Tool flashes the TWRP recovery image on your phone.
12. Now do the same thing to flash Userdata but before that un-tick the recovery. tick the userdata box. Click on the Location box to select and select the le-1s-mt6795-userdata.img userdata image from the downloaded location. Then click on the Download button to start download ing the Userdata image to your Le 1s.
    

 

13. Now disconnect the phone from the PC if you have connected, then Press and hold the Volume Down button and re-connect your phone to the PC via USB. Leave the Volume Down button when the SP Flash Tool recognizes your phone.
14. Wait till SP Flash Tool flashes the Userdata image on your phone.

HOW TO INSTALL/DOWNLOAD/FLASH/UPDATE Infinix Hot Note LineageOS 13 MARSHMALLOW CUSTOM ROM:

1. Follow this if you are flashing LineageOS 13 for Infinix Hot Note (x551) for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

   Points to NOTE:
   – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
   – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
   – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

   • Make sure you are on the Stock ROM to avoid any unnecessary problems. Link is given to flash back to stock ROM if you are not on.
   • Install the boot menu unlocker.
     – Download link provided in Downloads Section and there is an installation guide inside the archive.
   • Flash the TWRP recovery.
     – Follow the recovery guide for Mediatek chipset
   • Download and Copy the GApps and LineageOS 13 for Infinix Hot Note ROM ZIP to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery. Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery. If not then follow the recovery guide for Mediatek chipset.
   • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.

     This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM

This guide need the Droid MTK Tool. With the help of Droid MTK Tool we will create the scatter file for Walton Primo S5.

1. Download the Droid MTK Tool from the above Downloads section.
2. It’s in a zip file, so extract that file or open using WinRar or some application and then open the MTKDroidTools.exe file.

   

3. Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options on the Walton Primo S5, to make the device accessible via ADB.

   When the TWRP is downloaded to Walton Primo S5, the SP Flash tool will alert you saying Download is done.
