    Xperia Z Ultra Nougat 7.0 AOSP ROM is available through unofficial AOSP ROM update and this is a guide which explains how to update Xperia Z Ultra to Nougat ROM. This is only for Xperia Z Ultra variant C6833 model number. Please don’t try this any other Z Ultra variants. Since the Android Nougat Source code release, till now we have many Android Nougat ROMs available for various devices. Among Sony devices, we have now Xperia SP Nougat and Xperia M Nougat ROM Update and now this time the Nougat ROM (build number: NRD90M) has arrived to Sony Xperia Z Ultra (codename: togari, model number C6833).

    Installing a custom ROM on a the Xperia Z Ultra requires the bootloader to be unlocked, which may VOID your warranty and may delete all your data. Before proceeding further you may consider backup all data on the phone. You are the only person doing changes to your phone and I cannot be held responsible for the mistakes done by you.

    UPDATE XPERIA Z ULTRA NOUGAT 7.0 ROM (ANDROID 7.0 AOSP ROM)

    REQUIRED DOWNLOADS AND LINKS TO UPDATE AOSP 7.0 NOUGAT FOR XPERIA Z ULTRA (TOGARI):

    Make sure you have a Linux/Windows PC or a MAC installed with Fastboot and adb binaries. If not then you can follow one of the following guides based on your PC OS:

    Minimal ADB and Fastboot for Windows
    ADB Fastboot Installation guide for Linux or MAC

    HOW TO INSTALL/FLASH/UPDATE XPERIA Z ULTRA NOUGAT 7.0 ROM (ANDROID 7.0 AOSP ROM):

    1. First make sure that the bootloader is unlocked and TWRP is installed before updating the Nougat ROM to Xperia Z Ultra (togari). If not then unlock it first, install TWRP recovery and come back.
    2. Download the Nougat ROM zip file for Xperia Z Ultra and the Nougat Gapps zip file from the above download link. Extract the ROM zip file and you will get all fastboot flashable zip files such as: boot.img, system.img, userdata.img etc.
    3. Boot into the recovery image:
      fastboot reboot recovery
    4. Clean/Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache partition from the recovery:
      – Here is a guide explaining how to wipe data using TWRP recovery.

      This will delete all your data on your phone. IGNORE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO OR IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM.

    5. Reboot to bootloader again and flash the BOOT, SYSTEM, USERDATA and RECOVERY partitions using fastboot:
      First execute the following to see if the device is detected:
      fastboot devices

      NOTE:
      If the device is detected then proceed further to flash the fastboot images if not then remove the device and re-connect till the fastboot recognizes the device.
       

      Now, to flash the ROM images, you need to have fastboot installed on your PC. If not then follow one of the following guide depending on your system type:
      15 Seconds ADB Installer or Minimal ADB and Fastboot for Windows
      ADB Fastboot Installation guide for Linux or MAC
       

      MANUAL FLASHING VIA FASTBOOT:
      If you want to manually flash all the images then you can do so by executing the following commands in a command or terminal window:

      fastboot flash boot boot.img
      fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
      fastboot flash system system.img
      fastboot reboot
    6. Alternatively this can be installed as a TWRP restoration:
      INSTALL USING TWRP’s NANDROID BACKUP RESTORE:
      • Install TWRP recovery on Xperia Z Ultra if it’s not yet installed.
      • Extract the Z Ultra Nougat ROM TWRP BACKUP .img files to the following directory location into the phone:
        sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/*yourdevice*/*backupname*
      • Boot into TWRP recovery.
      • Now, restore the backup that you have copied to TWRP directory.
        – You may follow the same TWRP nandroid backup guide to restore the TWRP backup. Instead of selecting backup just click on restore and select the downloaded Nougat TWRP backup. Restore the System, Userdata and boot partition images.
    7. Boot the phone and if GApps are not already installed then follow the next steps in a custom recovery.
    8. Now copy the GApps to the phone using MTP mode and boot into TWRP recovery.
    9. Flash the Google Apps package using the TWRP recovery and then reboot to system.

    Reboot the phone to system from the recovery when the flashing is done, do the initial setup and then enjoy the taste of Android Nougat on Xperia Z Ultra.     OnePlus 3 CM13 (CyanogenMod 13) Marshmallow Custom ROM is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 is brought to you by Developer Garak. This ROM is an initial build and have minor issues but be sure to have a look on the status. It is strongly recommended that you take a backup before flashing this ROM. You must appreciate the Developer (Garak) for his awesomely fast porting of OnePlus 3 CyanogenMod 13 ROM.

    • Copy the latest OFFICIAL LineageOS 15.1 for Galaxy S5 Plus ROM ZIP file, Oreo 8.1 GApps and/or supersu ROOT package to the phone or use the updater app to download the LineageOS 15.1.NOTE:
      – If you are on an OFFICIAL LineageOS 14.1 then you will be allowed to download the latest OFFICIAL LineageOS 15.1 using the updater app but you won’t be allowed to upgrade to LineageOS 15.1 on top of LineageOS 14.1
      – So, you need to export the downloaded LineageOS 15.1 ROM build file to the SD card or phone memory from the updater app:
      You can export the downloaded package to the sdcard/phone memory from the Updater app by long-pressing the downloaded file and then selecting “Export” on the top menu
    • Boot into Recovery.- Make sure you have a latest custom Recovery that should be able to flash the LineageOS 15.1 ROM update.
    • Format or wipe the system partition from the custom recovery menu.
    • First install the OFFICIAL LineageOS 15.1 ROM ZIP file from device.- Here is a post explaining how to install LineageOS
    • Reboot and see you have the GApps and ROOT access or NOT.- Gapps is built in such a way that it will sustain across ROM updates.

    STEP BY STEP GUIDE OF HOW TO INSTALL TWRP FOR Elephone A5:

     

    Follow the below step by step guide to install the TWRP for Elephone A5

    Before installing TWRP you may require an unlocked bootloader on Elephone A5.

    Installing TWRP on Elephone A5 requires a scatter file to be created.
    A scatter file of a Mediatek device is what tells about the presence of different partition and the start address of each partition.

    How to create scatter file for Elephone A5:

    This guide need the Droid MTK Tool. With the help of Droid MTK Tool we will create the scatter file for Elephone A5.

    1. Download the Droid MTK Tool from the above Downloads section.
    2. It’s in a zip file, so extract that file or open using WinRar or some application and then open the MTKDroidTools.exe file.

    3. Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options on the Elephone A5; to make the device accessible via ADB.

      – If you don’t know how to do this then here is How to Enable Developer Options and How to Enable USB Debugging and OEM unlock.

    4. Then connect the phone using the USB cable to the PC.

      – When you connect the phone to the PC, MTKDroidTool will show all the information about your phone.

    5. On the below portion of the screen you will see a Blocks Map button. Click on the button
    6. On the next screen you have all the partition information and starting address of all the partitions of Elephone A5.
      On the bottom of the screen you see a Create scatter file button.

      – Click on the button to create scatter file for Elephone A5.

    7. Save the scatter file for Elephone A5 in a location which you can remember and access easily.

    Now Install TWRP on Elephone A5 using SP Flash Tool:

    TWRP recovery download to a Mediatek phone is done by SP Flash tool, which uses a scatter file to know which address the recovery partition starts.
    Make sure you have downloaded the SP Flash tool and created the scatter file for Elephone A5.

    Follow the below steps to install the TWRP on Elephone A5 using the scatter file.

    1. Open the SP Flash tool zip file and then open the flash_tool.exe file.
    2. Click browse on the the scatter-loading file section and select the Elephone A5 scatter file you created earlier using the MTKDroid Tool.

      After selecting the scatter file, the SP Flash tool application automatically find available partitions and other details.

    3. Now select the location next to the Recovery partition and select the TWRP for Elephone A5, which is in .img format.

    4. Then click on the Download button to start downloading/flashing of the TWRP recovery on Elephone A5 as shown in the picture.

    5. After clicking on the download button you will see a red bar on the bottom followed by a yellow bar.
      When the TWRP is downloaded to Elephone A5, the SP Flash tool will alert you saying Download is done.

    That’s all.

    What to do after you install TWRP for Elephone A5:

    • You can root the Elephone A5
    • You can install one of the custom ROMs available for Elephone A5
    • You can install some of the mods available on Elephone A5

      – Well, this is a very important aspect of this SuperSU ROOT process. The SuperSU zip file is developed in a way to be installed via a TWRP recovery or other custom recovery. Stock recovery may not be able install this SuperSU or Magisk ROOT zip file.

    • Download the latest SuprSU ROOT for Elephone A5 or one of the following:

     

    IMPORTANT NOTE:
    • Your phone will not be rooted just by installing the SuperSU APK file on your Android phone.
    • SuperSU APK Free or Pro version is just a SuperSU ROOT management application.

    2. Now restart the Elephone A5 to boot into TWRP recovery.
    3. Then, Select the Install from TWRP home screen, then select the SuperSU ROOT zip file from the file browser.
    4. Flash or install the SuperSU or Magisk for Elephone A5, by Sliding the Swipe to Confirm Flash on TWRP screen.
    5. Wait for TWRP to flash the SuperSU or the Magisk. Once the flashing is done just reboot your device.
    6. Then flash the no verity encrypt zip file to disable force encryption.
    7. Profit!!! You should now have a Elephone A5 ROOT enabled phone.

    Install the ROOT checker app from the Play Store and verify if your phone is ROOTED or not.

    When you install from an apt source, it is actually downloaded from a Ubuntu repository.
    But ADB and fastboot are Android SDK platform tools which will change time to time with respect to that ubuntu repository.

    [su_note note_color=”#FBF4DD” text_color=”#A38C68″ radius=”3″ class=”” id=””]You can issue the apt install command to install adb and fastboot on ubuntu.
    But it won’t guarantee the installation of latest ADB and fastboot binaries.[/su_note]

    In most cases it would just work fine.
    But there are many cases too where you may need to have the latest Android SDK platform tools, which is the latest ADB and fastboot tools.
