Android 14 download is now available and we have seen some development around the same for many devices. This time it is the Android 14 for Mi 9.

Mi 9 was launched with Android 9 and is supported to be upgraded to Android 11 ; which means the Mi 9 will NEVER receive the OEM official Android 14 in future!

But if you are eager to try the Android 14 then, you can try any custom ROM such as this HyperOS built for Mi 9. You can try the same but make sure you read the DISCLAIMER below and follow the instructions in the exact steps written.

You need to understand that, Installing this Android 14 HyperOS ROM or any custom ROM requires advanced knowledge to modify the underlying firmware on your phone, such as you may need to unlock bootloader, custom recovery installation etc.
If not done properly it may leave your phone UNUSABLE temporarily or permanently!

How to Install Android 14 on Mi 9

Below is the step-by-step guide to install the HyperOS Android 14 ROM on your Mi 9.

Before going to flash this ROM, make sure that your phone is running on the latest MIUI firmware.

  • Take a backup of all your data from the device.
  • Make sure you already have an unlocked bootloader on your Mi 9
  • Download the HyperOS Android 14 ROM for Mi 9 and copy it into the phone or keep in the PC (if you intend to install using ADB sideload)
      • Download link is available in the below download section.
  • Download the latest TWRP for Mi 9 and install it using this fastboot install guide. Follow the next step to install fastboot.
  • Download and install latest ADB Fastboot on Windows or Linux or Mac.
    • Follow the link given. it has all required files and step-by-step instructions.
  • Once installed fastboot, open a cmd window and execute the below command to flash the TWRP recovery required for this ROM
    • fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.6.2_9-cepheus-unofficial.img
  • Enter into recovery mode and Format data and Wipe data, Cache, System and clean Dalvik cache.

  • Reboot to TWRP recovery again
  • Then use Apply zip from ADB (which is ADB sideload)
  • Install Android 14 on Mi 9 using TWRP recovery or any custom recovery of your choice
    (OR)
    Use ADB Sideload to install this Android 14 HyperOS ROM zip file.

  • Once installed the ROM file, format data again using TWRP recovery.
  • Once done, reboot the phone to boot into Android 14 on Mi 9.
  • This ROM has GApps built-in. If it does not have, then boot into recovery mode again and flash the Android 14 GApps using the recovery flashing method.

Google Camera / Pixel Camera for Mi 9 on Android 14

The Pixel Camera which was earlier known as Google Camera APK now a days is running almost on all Android phones regardless of OEM type. You can check one of the compatible GCam APK for Mi 9 from the link given there.
