It has functionalities like cutting, splitting, transitions, video effects, copy-paste, etc. This is one of the best video editing software available in Linux.

How to install Kdenlive in Ubuntu
There are various methods using which you can install and use Kdenlive in a Ubuntu system.
Installing Kdenlive using PPA
You can install Kdenlive using PPA to do this first you need to add the Kdenlive PPA repository to your system.
Use the given command to add the repository –
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable
Update the system repository by using –
sudo apt update
Now you can install the Kdenlive by using the below command –
sudo apt install kdenlive
Installing Kdenlive snap package
Snaps are containerized packages that can be used across the different distributions of Linux. This is one of the easiest methods of installing packages on a Ubuntu system.
Now to install the Kdenlive snap package on your system use –
sudo snap install kdenlive
Installing Kdenlive using AppImage
The AppImage is a universal software package format that runs on most Linux systems without installation. To download the Kdenlive AppImage package first go to the download page on its official website and click on AppImage as you can see in the below image.
Once the AppImage package is downloaded make it executable using the given command –
chmod +x Downloads/*.AppImage
Run the application from your terminal by using –
./Downloads/kdenlive-21.08.0-x86_64.AppImage
This will launch the Kdenlive on your system.
Note- At the time of writing this article Kdenlive 21.08.0 is the latest version
Installing Kdenlive using flatpak
Flatpak is another way of building, distributing, and running sandboxed desktop applications on a Linux system.
To download the Kdenlive Flatpak package first you need to install and configure Flatpak on your system. To install Flatpak open your terminal and execute the given command –
sudo apt install flatpak -y
Next, add the Flathub repository by using the given command –
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
Now use the given command to install the Kdenlive flatpak package –
sudo flatpak install flathub org.kde.kdenlive
Start Kdenlive video editor
After the installation of Kdenlive on your system you can launch it from the activity dashboard. Search Kdenlive and when an icon appears like given in the image below click on it to launch the application.
