LineageOS – Android Custom ROM

Gaming Laptop Series

It all started from CyanogenMod, an Android based custom ROM contributed by thousands of developers. For some dispute (a long story) CyanogenMod (in fact CYNGN) had to be shutdown and there born the LineageOS which was the same CyanogenMod from in and out but with a different name.

LineageOS Download, Features, Installation Guide

What you will get in this page?

Everything about LineageOS. Features in every version, Download to all available versions etc.

Every year there is a new Android version comes up and hence a new LineageOS update also comes for almost all latest and few older devices (this is relatively with time).

Many devices do not get the latest LineageOS as those lose to attract developers. This makes it quite difficult for users to keep track of different LineageOS ROMs available for their own devices.

Keeping this in mind I thought to collect all LineageOS ROMs such as:

  • LineageOS 20 (Android 13)
  • LineageOS 19 (Android 12)
  • LineageOS 18 (Android 11)
  • LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10)
  • LineageOS 16 (Android P)
  • LineageOS 15.1 (Android Oreo)
  • LineageOS 14.1 (Android Nougat)
  • LineageOS 13 (Android Marshmallow)

and beyond (arranged in a format recent to last), available for all devices and compile it on a single page which will help users to find the best possible LineageOS ROM for their device(s).

Where to Download LineageOS?

Below table has the LineageOS device list for corresponding Android version:

LineageOS devices list with respect to Android version

Android 9LineageOS 16
Android 8LineageOS 15
LineageOS 15.1
Android 7LineageOS 14
Android 6LineageOS 13

Individual LineageOS version page contains LineageOS ROM for ported devices. If your device is not listed on a particular LineageOS list page such as LineageOS 14.1 or LineageOS 15.1; then either that might not have been built by any developer or just not listed on that page because I failed to explore about the same.

In any case, you can login and place a request for your device and I will try to search get it listed on that page, as far as possible.

FAQs about LineageOS

LineageOS is the successor of CyanogenMod which is an Android custom ROM. Being a custom software, people often show concerns over the same.

Hence, I have listed a handful of relevant question that people usually ask about LineageOS.

What is LineageOS?

LineageOS is a Android custom ROM that brings their own developments on top of vanilla Android. Technically, LineageOS is just the CyanogenMod rebranded. This happened around the CyanogenMod 14.1 version and hence it has LineageOS 14.1 as a counter part. LineageOS brings the latest Android for those devices which has been forgotten by their OEMs in terms of new Android updates.

Is LineageOS Google Free?

Yes it is! Every app that you see after the first booting is their own and written from scratch. LineageOS is the only Android custom ROM that is completely Google FREE and free from any bloated software. But, if you want you can either install GApps or microG to run Google apps on LineageOS.

Is LineageOS Secure?

Yes, it is! In fact, this is the only custom ROM that has a CTS like Device Supported Requirements before a device is supported officially by the team. There is NO bloatware, NO hidden apps or service running in background neither it records user behaviors. But you need to be cautious while installing an UNOFFICIAL build.

Will LineageOS Work On My Phone?

If LineageOS is available for your phone then it is specifically built for your phone and it will work. If not you can install a LineageOS GSI with a proper vendor image to make it work if your phone is treble compatible.
