[su_note note_color=”#FBF4DD” text_color=”#A38C68″ radius=”3″ class=”” id=””]This method is for manually updating the Pixel devices using the Factory Image file. Moreover, we are using a Windows PC for explaining the installation procedure.[/su_note]
  1. You need to download the Platform-tools from here.
  2. Download and extract the Platform-tools on your desktop.
  3. Now, download the latest August 2019 security patch Factory Image file from the download section above for your compatible Pixel device.
  4. Extract the Factory image file into the same folder where you have extracted the Platform-tools file.
  5. You need to edit a small batch file by the name “flash-all.bat“. What this script does is that it automates the flashing process of all the compressed images. We will change it so that it does not wipe the entire data on your device. You can use the Notepad++ to edit it. Here is how you need to edit it;
    • Open the bat file using the Notepad++.
    • Then go the end of the text and you will see a line fastboot.
    • You need to remove the -w from that line and save the file
  6. Now, open a command prompt and type in the below command;
    cd Desktop\platform-tools
  7. Then, type the below command;
    adb devices
  8. You need to enter the bootloader mode on your device. To do that, enter the below command;
    adb reboot bootloader
  9. Now, to check whether your device is detected or not, type in the below command;
    fastboot devices
  10. Once your device is detected, you just need to double click on the “flash-all.bat” file and wait for the flashing to complete.
  11. That’s it! You have manually updated your device to the latest August 2019 Security patch.
