In February of 2020, Xiaomi’s Poco brand separated itself from the parent company, on a quest to build more fan-favorite flagship killers. While everyone in the crowd were expecting a sequel to the game-changing Poco F1, the company decided to play a little different and release the X2 instead. We recently got our hands on the Poco X2 in the Phoenix Red color, and just couldn’t resist bringing it in front of the camera for you guys! You can watch our video detailing the Poco X2 Unboxing, and even going over a few of its First Impressions.
What’s inside the box?
Within the deep yellow box, you get the phone itself, a transparent TPU case, a SIM ejector tool, some paperwork, and a massive 27 Watt charging adapter alongside a USB Type-C cable. The phone comes with no pre-applied screen protector though, and we highly recommend you get one to protect that massive 6.67″ display up front. Unsurprisingly, we don’t get any other accessories within the packaging such as an earphone or a Type-C to Type-A adapter. For the price of 15,999, the Poco X2 has impressive packaging and that free case to protect your device is always well appreciated.
Our First Impressions
The first thing you would notice about the Poco X2 is the jaw dropping 120 Hz display. It is insanely long, and gets decently bright outdoors as well. The dual punch-out cameras on the top-right also give this phone a distinctive look, especially in this price segment. The phone is largely made out of plastic, and it does feel less premium in the hand as well. However, for the price of 15,999, I’m not complaining. You will also notice the side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Poco X2 and while the setup was a bit glitchy for me, the actual scanner is incredibly quick and reliable. We got the 6 GB RAM variant with 64 Gigs of storage, although we would recommend everyone to grab the 128 Gig model if you take a lot of photos or videos. There is the option to get the top-tier 8/256 GB variant as well, but that’s just pushing the limits of how much RAM a budget-oriented device should have. If you ever fall short of internal storage however, you can expand it with an external micro SD card.
The rear sports the unmistakably catchy housing for the quad-camera setup. Following is the list of cameras both to the back as well as to the front of the Poco X2 :
– Rear
- 64 MP, f/1.9, 26mm Primary
- 8 MP, f/2.2, 13mm Ultrawide
- 2 MP, f/2.4, Macro
- 2 MP, f/2.4, Depth Sensor
– Front
- 20 MP, f/2.2, 27mm Primary
- 2 MP, f/2.4 Depth Sensor
All these cameras are powered by the Snapdragon 730G, and we’re really excited about comprehensively testing the Poco X2’s camera performance out.
The Poco X2 runs on top of a slightly customized version of MIUI 11, and has all the bells and whistles from the earlier versions. We also get some Poco-specific addons like an app drawer and a turbo mode to enhance gaming performance. The Poco X2 comes with a mammoth 4,500 mAh battery that we suspect would last more than a day of heavy usage. Overall, we’re super impressed by what Poco has brought to the budget smartphone market here in India. There will be a lot of coverage from our end regarding the Poco X2, so make sure you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel to not miss out on any of our content!
