Surprisingly a new Xiaomi device with the Exynos SoC has been listed in the database of GeekBench. It’s the trimmed down version of Mi 10 i.e., the Mi 10E. No leaks or rumors were live till about this device.
The listing confirms that the Mi 10E will sport the Samsung Exynos 990 SoC with 8GB of RAM, and runs on Android 10. The SoC scores 913 points in the single-core tests, and 2755 points in the multi-core tests. The reason why Xiaomi went with this SoC is due to cost-cutting. As you know, Snapdragon 865 costs a lot. Samsung Exynos chipsets can be seen on non-Samsung devices like Moto One Action, and this is the first Xiaomi going with Exynos chipset.
If you remember the Exynos 990 SoC, it is the same chipset which we have seen on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S20 series. But, the chipset is way cheaper compared to the Snapdragon rivals out there. However, it is unclear that in the market will Xiaomi unveils this smartphone. Unfortunately, other details of the smartphone aren’t available yet. Concerning this, Samsung will replace the Mali GPU by the RDNA GPU in the upcoming Exynos 1000. Reports suggest that it will be 3x faster than the current Snapdragon 865. The weakest point of Exynos SoC is its GPU. But with the new GPU, it will be way ahead.
