Vivo launched its Vivo x50 pro on July 16, 2020, which comes in two variants, 8 gb ram and 128 gb storage or 8 gb ram and 256 Gb storage. It has the unique gimbal feature and also comes with a 90Hz super amoled curved screen.
Display
It has a 6.56-inch (1080×2376) display which will feel very comfortable in your hand but it is not too small, so you can watch movies and play games without any problem. It comes with both 60 Hz and 90Hz display, so you can switch between the refresh rate according to your use because 90Hz settings will reduce battery life but the phone will function faster and smoother.
Camera
X50 pro has a Quad camera set up at the rear which consists of 48-megapixel primary camera, a second 13-megapixel camera, a third 8-megapixel camera, and a fourth 13-megapixel camera. It comes with autofocus and gimble stabilization, which is attracting many users because of its capability to shoot stable and high-quality videos. It has a 32-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.
The in-camera Gimbal Stabilization
It is quite difficult to fit a gimbal inside a tiny place in a mobile phone. But GoPro and DJI has some sort of software technique to achieve gimbal like stabilization. Have you ever heard of GoPro’s Hypersmooth or the DJI Osmo action camera’s Rocksteady? These are all software stabilization techniques used by different OEMs and it delivers gimbal like stabilization.
Initially I thought that the Vivo X50 Pro has similar feature which is a software feature that cuts some percentage of the whole video to make it more stable with software processing. Usually, the video captured in this stabilization mode looks a little bit zoomed in comparison to the normal video recording mode.
But the Vivo X50 Pro uses some Gimbal technology which the company claims that delivers 300% better result than an OIS. If you are YouTuber or upload videos a lot, then you may consider this if it comes under your budget.
Performance & Battery
It operates on the android 10 and has octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 765G which is very fast and makes your device smoother but it consumes a little more battery than 855 snapdragon processor. It also has a massive battery of 4315 mAh which will keep your device running for a long time and it comes with a 33-watt fast charger which will charge your phone 100 percent in around 55 mins which is quite impressive.
Pricing & Conclusion
It is a very impressive smartphone with one of the best camera in the market but its cost is going to be around Rs 50,000 which I think is a little more because it doesn’t have an 865 snapdragon processor and also it should have had IP rating.
I think there are better options in the market at this price and my pick over x50 pro will be one plus 8 because it has an 855 snapdragon and costs less than x50 pro at the price of Rs 42,000 for 8 Gb ram and 128 Gb storage or 12 Gb ram and 256 Gb storage which comes at the price of Rs 49,990.
