Xiaomi launched its new smartphone Redmi Note 9 on July 20, 2020. Xiaomi claims that it will be the best budget phone in 2020. The Redmi Note 9 looks premium from the front the plastic back for this price isn’t a good sign at all, lets dig a little deeper.
Display
It has a massive 6.55-inch FHD IPS LCD display! It is bigger than its predecessor, the Redmi Note 8 which had a 6.3-inch display. It has a 60 Hz refresh rate for a smooth and a good enough experience. Watching movies and playing games on this massive and smooth display will be a good experience at this price. Though the competition is getting better, Redmi has still cut corners on display. We would give the display a 3/5!
Camera
Nothing special here , It has the same camera experience as Redmi note 8. At the rear it has a quad-camera setup with 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide sensor, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth which will click good pictures, and, on the front, it has a 13MP punch hole camera for selfies. The hole punch is a step in right direction as it’s yet not fully adopted in this budget segment so cheers to Xiaomi for including that. We would give the camera a 3.5/5!
Performance
It runs on the Android 10 operating system which is a user-friendly operating system. The phone comes with a MediaTek Helio G85 which the Xiaomi claims offer great and fast performance. The Redmi Note 8 had Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor which is a little slow compared to the MediaTek Helio G85. A total of three variants are available for the Redmi Note 9 — 4GB+64GB, 4GB+128GB, and 6GB+128GB. Xiaomi took the right decision with a MediaTek chip as they offer better performance than their Qualcomm counterparts at this price. We would give the Performance a 4/5!
Battery
It has a massive battery of 5020mAh which will be enough for all your work, gaming, and watching movies. It has a 22.5 W charger to charge its massive battery, it will charge the phone completely in around 1 hour. The big battery and a fast charger in the box bags this phone a 4.5/5 in this department.
Conclusion
Redmi Note 9’s base variant is priced at Rs 11,999, whereas the mid and top variant is priced at Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively. It is a great smartphone at this price and it might even be the best budget phone the year. It overall has good performance with excellent battery life and a punch hole camera at the front though the camera isn’t the best thing out there but at this price we can’t really complain!
