OnePlus launched its new smartphone OnePlus Nord via an AR launch event on July 21, 2020, which it claims to be an affordable flagship phone with a flagship-level camera. Alongside OnePlus Nord they also launched OnePlus buds which we will be talking about very soon and comparing it to other TWS buds. Let’s see how good is the OnePlus Nord ?
Display
It has a 6.44-inch OLED display which is a big display but a little smaller than the OnePlus 8. The resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels and it has a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes the phone smoother and faster. This display is perfect for watching movies and playing games. Some reviewers are claiming that display is little dull compared to other OnePlus phones and we will get to know if there’s really any issue.
Camera
OnePlus has not compromised with the camera to reduce the price which is a good thing. It has a quad-camera setup at the rear with wide-angle 48MP, ultra-wide 8MP lens, 2MP macro camera, 5MP depth sensor which can click good pictures, in which you can see the details even if you zoom in the picture. The compromise, meanwhile, comes with the wide-angle camera, which has half the resolution of the OnePlus 8’s. And it has a dual selfie punch hole camera at the front with two front-facing cameras including an 8-megapixel sensor ultra-wide camera with a 105-degree field of view, as well as a more traditional 32-megapixel selfie camera which will make your selfies great. We should actually take this quad camera setup more like 2.5 camera setup!
Performance
It operates on the Android 10 operating system with OnePlus’s oxygen OS. OnePlus has made a compromise with the Nord’s processor as it powered by a slower Snapdragon 765G processor which is comparatively slower than OnePlus 8’s Snapdragon 865 processor but still considering the price it’s good and fast. It also supports 5G integrated in the chip though it’s won’t be of any use in near future at least in India. A total of 3 variants are available for OnePlus Nord, they are 6gb, 8gb and a 12gb variant and all of them come with UFS 2.0 which if not very fast is still decently fast enough!
Battery
OnePlus Nord is powered by a 4,115 mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30T. It is an impressive battery which will be enough for a day easily and it will get fully charged within 1 hour because of OnePlus’s warp charger. OnePlus claims that the Nord can go upto 70% charge in 30 minutes!
Conclusion
So yes, we can say that Nord is a ‘budget’ flagship killer phone with a very impressive not so flagship-level camera, 5G compatibility but lacks in an IP rating which was done to reduce the price. OnePlus Nord is available in two colours- Blue Marble and Grey Onyx. OnePlus Nord has also gone for a pretty competitive pricing as follows : 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for Rs. 27,999, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for Rs. 29,999, and an India-exclusive variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for Rs. 24,999.
