Back in May, Moto Brazil has confirmed that the OEM has started rolling the Android 10 update to its Motorola G7. First Motorola will roll out updates to Brazil because it is the favorite country of the brand.
It was expected that Motorola will soon roll out the update globally. Later on May 28, Moto started rolling updates for its European units. On various dates of June, the brand rolled out updates in the UK, Canada, Netherlands, Argentina, India, Mexico, and the US (for unlocked variants). Earlier, this week the update was rolled out for unlocked T-Mobile units.
Now, the brand has started rolling the same Android 10 for the Verizon variant of Motorola G7. The update for the Verizon unit comes with version number QPU30.52-23, and with the older April security patch. The changelog of the update was shared by someone in Reddit. Here is what the changelog looks like:-
Changelog
See what’s new:
•Android 10: Android is more Secure and easier to use than ever. Check out the new gesture navigation, system-wide dark theme, and better notification control with suggested actions and silent groups. You also have more control over privacy and security to ensure that your data is always protected.
•Android security: Includes updates of Android security patches through April 1, 2020
Please note that the update is released via OTA so that it takes some time to reach your device. Do check regularly so that you don’t miss once it is available for your device.
To add one thing here, we already had LineageOS 17.1 for Moto G7 which is based on Android 10 since 21st February 2020. Custom ROMs based on the latest Android are made available as soon as the source code is released.
Although this requires advanced knowledge of flashing a custom ROM on a phone but it is not that hard. The phone will surely get Android 11 official update but it may get LineageOS 18 or other custom ROMs very soon.
