OnePlus launched its flagship device i.e. the OnePlus 8 Pro in April 2020. The device came with awesome specifications, and there were some features that we haven’t seen in an OnePlus device. For instance, the 8 Pro came with an IP rating, wireless charging, and a photochromic sensor. This sensor was changed to a color filter sensor by the update and can be used for seeing inside of thin plastics & clothes. However, the brand disabled this feature due to the concerns raised by the public. The units in China, India, and in Global are now sold without this feature. There were a lot of privacy concerns regarding the same.
Interestingly, now you can retrieve this disabled feature through ADB. As we said, there were only a few no of the high-end devices that came with the color filter. The disable fourth sensor of OnePlus 8 Pro can we retrieved using some ADB commands. For this, follow the given steps.
How to enable the fourth sensor in OnePlus 8 Pro?
You need to run a command through the ADB interface for which you first need to enable Developer Options and then enable USB Debugging under developer options.
Also, you need to have ADB installed on your PC along with the necessary USB drivers.
- adb shell
- am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest
The above commands will enable a new option in the Factory Mode app which you can see as “Test Cameras.” Here you can access the cameras by tapping on the icon which is located to the bottom right corner. Here you can see that, the color filter camera will be named as “Fouth rear camera(4)”. This option is part of the Factory Mode app,. So yeah, we don’t expect that OnePlus will disable this method of accessing the color filter camera in the OnePlus 8 Pro. Stay tuned with us for more articles like this. We thank XDA Developers for this wonderful guide.
It is possible that with the new OxygenOS update for the device, this might be disabled or completely removed from the OS! So, grab it as long as it is available.
