Redmi Note 8 Pro became a popular phone because of its 64MP camera on a budget phone, there is no doubt in it.
Being a popular phone many user wish it should get the latest Android 12 update but will it really get it? Let’s find out!
A bit of history
The phone was launched in August 2019 with Android version 9.
After that, it has already got Android 10 update and recently it has also got the MIUI 12.5 Android 11 update, just a quarter back.
But what about Android 12?
Android 12 on Redmi Note 8 Pro – very Unlikely!
Xiaomi offers two major OS update versions for a phone and this phone is no exception to this.
Having said that, and as I have already told that the phone has already got 2 major updates, I do not see this phone will get it!
Of course the Android 12 beta has been released recently for quite a lot of devices but the Redmi Note 8 Pro will not see this, unfortunately!
Still – Is there any other way?
Of course there is a way out. This is where the custom ROMs come into picture.
Mi 3 which was launched in 2013 with Android 4.3 and was officially upgradable to Android 6, that’s it. But, the phone has got Android 11 update via LineageOS 18 last year.
Now let’s look at it this way, the Redmi Note 8 Pro has already received Android 11 via PixelExperience 11 since November 2020, much before the official Android release.
That’s the power of the developer community. But any custom ROM that comes only after the public release of an Android version, so, Android 12 custom ROM will be available from end of August or early September.
Coming to the point, of course there is still a hope but it is not guaranteed and it comes with a risk of bricking your phone.
Installing a custom ROM is not an easy task and requires advanced knowledge to do so.
But, if you are still interested to install the upcoming Android 12 custom ROM update for Redmi Note 8 Pro, then stay tuned, I will update this post with proper installation guides when it is available.
