Most of the vendors give almost two major updates for its premium and mid-range smartphones. Often, the budget devices seldom receive major Android updates. These are majorly due to the low hardware found on these devices. And as you all know that, LG is not the best OEM out there in case of Android updates. Usually, the brand rolls out updates very slowly. The AT&T units like LG Arena 2, LG Neon Plus, and LG Prime 2 have received a new major Android update.
While everyone is eagerly waiting for the next Android version i.e. Android 11, the brand has rolled out the LG UX 9.0 on top of Android 10 for these budget devices. Several devices like this haven’t picked up the new Android 10 update.
LG Arena 2
The LG Arena 2 is a budget device with an HD+ display, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and is backed by Snapdragon 425. The new update comes with the version number X320APM20e and with May 2020 security patch. There’s no detailed changelog available only it shows that Android 10 OS & a new security patch available.
LG Neon Plus
Next up is the LG Neon Plus which has received the Android 10 update on top of LG UX 9.0. It also comes with an HD+ display, and 2/32 storage options, and is packed by Snapdragon 675. It gets the update with the version number X320AM820e and with the same May 2020 security patch. The update weighs over 1.3GB.
LG Prime 2
The last device in the list is LG Prime 2 which is also a budget device from the brand. It also comes with similar specifications, i.e. with Snapdragon 425 & it has a lower 16GB storage option. The update comes with the version number X320AA20e and with the same May 2020 security patch. It weighs over 1.37GB. The changelog for all these devices is one and the same.
Although LG is not the best brand for rolling updates, it is really good to see brands like this are rolling out major Android updates for its budget devices. Other brands like Vivo, Xiaomi should learn from LG. The Vivo U10 which was launched with Android 9 Pie & Funtouch OS 8 will not receive the Funtouch OS 10 update. Even though, the device has good hardware the brand is not planning to roll out the update. Stay tuned with us for more stories like this.
